COVINGTON- After a 42-7 victory over Greenbrier East, the Alleghany defense was voted the Virginian Review’s ‘Football Friday’ players of the week for week 4.

The Cougars did not allow a point until there was just over a minute left in the game and gave up just 132 total yards to the Spartans. Jay Godfrey had a 79-yard pick-6. Xzavier Hayslett had an interception as well, Sarge Persinger recovered a fumble, Joe Rogers had a pair of sacks, and the pressure applied to Spartan QB Brody Hamric started on the first snap and did not let up until there were zeroes on the fourth quarter clock.

That whole side of the football was spectacular.

PAST WINNERS:

Week 1: Des Jordan

Week 2: Sarge Persinger

Week 3: Buddy Leisure-White
