James Alonzo Defibaugh
James Alonzo Defibaugh, age 80, of The Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center, Clifton Forge, and formerly of Covington, Virginia, died on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at The Woodlands.
James was born on October 21, 1943 on Iron Gate Hill in Botetourt County, a son of the late Phillip A. Defibaugh and Lena Harris Defibaugh. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation as an attendant at the Virginia Visitor Center. He was a member of the Curtis A. Smith VFW Post 1033 and Sharon Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Warwick Defibaugh, and two sisters, Margaret Firebaugh and Martha Ray Defibaugh.
He is survived by a sister, Joyce Leftwich; two brothers, Gene Defibaugh and Harold Defibaugh; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Virgil Woodie officiating. Military rites will be conducted by members of the Curtis A. Smith VFW Post 1033. Interment will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, in Dublin.
