HARDY – Annie Mae Taylor Slater, 88, of 157 Harbor Club Lane, Hardy, and formerly of Clifton Forge, died Tuesday , March 16, 2010 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

Born January 14, 1922 in Iron Gate, she was a daughter of the late Walter L. and Mamie Broughman Taylor. She was a retired cashier for the former A & P Grocery Store in Clifton Forge and a member of Central Advent Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Abraham Slater in 1989.

She is survived by a son, Alan Slater and wife, Angie of Smith Mountain Lake and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge, with the Rev. Gene Peters officiating. Interment will follow.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Central Advent Christian Church, 3515 Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge, Va. 24422.
