Rodney Lanell Wallace
“Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.” Philippians 4:5
Rodney Lanell Wallace, beloved brother, uncle, and friend was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on December 17, 1965. He was peacefully called to glory on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at his residence. He was the son of the late Mr. Leonard Lorraine and Mrs. Viola Brown Wallace. Rodney, affectionately known as “Geasel”, was the one of eight children and considered the “godfather” to all of the grandchildren.
Guided by his mother, Rodney found the Lord early in life and was baptized at Main Street Baptist Church. Being an active member of the church, he served in several capacities including singing in the youth and intermediate choirs and in the Men’s Chorus. He was currently a member of Sweet Union Baptist Church where he participated in the Men’s Chorus, E.T. Burton Choir, and the Sweet Voices of Praise Choir.
Rodney had a spectacular voice, enjoyed life, and had numerous friends and colleagues. He loved the Lord, and he loved to sing at various churches and for a number of weddings. He was a life member of the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad. Because of his involvement with the squad, he loved helping people, and he was known for his kind generous spirit and infectious smile. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help someone in need.
He attended Clifton Forge High School and graduated from Alleghany High School in 1984. Later, he also attended the Roanoke Memorial Hospital School of Practical Nursing. Rodney obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mountain State University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Liberty University. He was a certified Paramedic.
Rodney was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Oteria Wallace Broady and one brother-in-law, Elijah Broady. He leaves to rejoice in his memory: three sisters, Genelda B. Wallace, Romania W. Jordan, and Vanessa L. Wallace all of Clifton Forge, VA; three brothers, Leonard L. Wallace, Jr of Easton, PA, Richard W. Wallace and Reginald W. Wallace both of Clifton Forge, three sisters-in-laws, Gail D. Wallace and Latasha T. Wallace both of Clifton Forge, VA, and Joyce J. Wallace of Easton, PA; one brother-in-law, Oliver W. Jordan, Jr of Clifton Forge, VA, and two aunts, Carrie Turner of Concord, VA and Josephine Wallace of Indianapolis, IN, two very devoted and loving friends, David Hipes and Raymond Lewis, his dog, Clifton, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
