Patsy Agner Burnette, 76, of 2800 Valley Ridge Road, died Friday, October 30, 2009, at Alleghany Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Burnette was born July 12, 1933, in Covington, a daughter of the late Rayner Earl and Elsie Bryant Agner.
She retired in 2005 after 36 years with the office staff of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest’s James River Ranger District Office of the U. S. Forest Service.
Patsy was a longtime member of the Preceptor Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She enjoyed going places and being with friends and especially looked forward to her Tuesday Bridge Club games.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, M.W.”Squirrel” Burnette of Covington; her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Greg Persinger of Clifton Forge; her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lynn Burnette of Richmond; five grandsons, Shane Burnette and his wife, Lindsey, Brian Burnette, Casey Burnette, Kyle Burnette and Cole Burnette, and her great-grandson, Brady Burnette and a brother-in-law, James Burnette and his wife, Helen of Covington.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Brokaw officiating.
Pallbearers will be Shane Burnette, Bryan Burnette, Ben Truitt, Steven King, Brandon Nicely, Randy Barber and Pat Harrison.
Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Friends may pay their respects at anytime at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends Sunday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.
