Hubert Thornton Cauley

Hubert Thornton Cauley, 88, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at his residence. 

He was born March 13, 1936, in Hot Springs, Virginia, the son of the late Hubert Cauley and Florence Smith Cauley.

Mr. Cauley retired from WestVaco with 39 years of service as a machinist working on the #8 paper machine.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Healing Springs Baptist Church; an avid hunter, golfer, and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lettie Mae Peery Cauley whom he married on August 25, 1986; three children, Dennis Carter, Tracie Baldwin & husband Tommy, and Bobby Cauley & wife Amanda, all of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Billy Baldwin, Mykala Cauley, and Caleb Cauley; a sister, Doris Forwelier & husband Don of North Port, Florida; and a niece, Sandra Bilek.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Karen Carter and Beth Cauley; a sister, Allene Phillips.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2024, at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Goforth officiating. Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy Baldwin, Tommy Baldwin, Dennis carter, Justin Lindsay, Matt Quantz, John Quantz, David Lindsay, Kevin Fry, Alex Lindsay.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
