Mrs. Elizabeth Kontoze Necolau, age 95, of 621 W. Prospect Street, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at her residence. She was the wife of Petros Necolau who preceded her in death in 1966.
Mrs. Necolau was born April 29, 1914 in Famagusta, Cyprus. A member of this community since 1947, she was former employee of Halmode and a former proprietor of Dixie Lunch. Mrs. Necolau was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
Mrs. Necolau is survived by her daughter, Maria Pete Necolau of Covington; special caregivers, Alice White, Paula Thompson and Betty Wilkerson; and a number of friends throughout the community.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Necolau was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Kontoze in 1987.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. December 31, 2009, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Father Dean Nastos officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Richard Tyree, Percy Caldwell, Bob McAllister, G.C. Fawley, Jerry Burks, Arnold Hostetter, Jr. and Thomas Riley. Alternate pallbearers will be Robert Loving, Carl Nicely, Roscoe Humphries, Sr., and Roy Craft.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Covington Fire and Rescue, 435 W. Hawthorne Street, Covington, VA 24426.
