CLIFTON FORGE – In one of their few solo matches on the season, Alleghany lost a close match with Wilson Memorial 163-177 at the 9-hole non-district dual match at the Cliftondale Country Club in Clifton Forge.
For the first time this golf season Jacob Morris carded for the Cougars and led the team with a 43 for the afternoon. Bubby Entsminger finished one stroke just behind Morris with a 44 at the dual match.
Having led Alleghany three times in four district matches thus far this season, Haden Spinks finished tied for third on the Cougars with Kai Rowland as they each shot a 45.
Meanwhile for the match winners, Eli Irving and Jaxson Devereux tied for medalist honors for the Green Hornets as they each finished shooting 6-over-par 40.
Alleghany is back at it with district play on Thursday when they travel to Fairlawn to compete in a district invitational at the Pete Dye River Course at Virginia Tech.
