CLIFTON FORGE - A Cl-ifton Forge man was airlifted to a Roanoke hospital Tuesday after being struck by a snow plow.
Neel Edwards of Jefferson Avenue was airlifted by LifeGuard 10 helicopter to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Clifton Forge Police Chief Barry Balser said the accident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday and involved a Clifton Forge Public Works vehicle that was clearing snow in the 1600 block of Jefferson Avenue.
According to Balser, Edwards had flagged down the operator of the snow plow to discuss snow that had been pushed into his driveway. Balser said Edwards was apparently struck by the plow as it pulled away.
Balser said Edwards was flown to Roanoke Memorial as a precaution.
“He had some trauma that was significant, but not life threatening,” Balser said.
Edwards remained hospitalized at Roanoke Memorial this morning.
Balser said investigation of the incident continues.
