LAUREL FOLK – In their second golf event of the 2024 season Floyd County prevailed victorious with a 321-team score in their Three Rivers District Invitational this past Wednesday at the Olde Mill Golf Resort in Laurel Fork.

The Buffaloes won a little more separation compared to their first golf event win days prior on Monday where they had held off Radford 301-325. The Bobcats on Wednesday also finished second for the second straight event with a 354.

A total of seven strokes separated the third-place team and the sixth place. Patrick County, who had finished in fifth place on Monday in the opener at Cliff View, had a solid team effort with a 365 for the afternoon.

After finishing their event opener with a third-place tie with Glenvar on Monday at Cliff View, Alleghany took a fourth-place finish on Wednesday in Laurel Fork with a 366 as they were only separated by one stroke with Patrick County.

The Cougars were led individually by Kai Rowland, who led the team with an 87. Meanwhile Landon Arritt put together an 88, while Haden Spinks who led the team at Cliff View, finished Wednesday’s individual performance with an 92. Bubby Entsminger rounded out the card with a 99.

Rounding out the rest of the field, Glenvar finished with a 368, while the hosts of the event Carroll County shot a 372, and James River finished with a 380.

Cantrell and Mason were joined by James Rivers, Mason Gilliland, who also shot a day’s best 72.

Alleghany is back on the green on Monday for another TRD even at the Great Oaks Country Club in Floyd County.
