[Hot Springs, VA] – Bath Community Hospital and Bath Community Physicians Group are delighted to announce the addition of Dr. Riley Ewen, DO, to its team of dedicated healthcare providers. Dr. Ewen is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician with extensive experience in
both regional and international volunteer work, including service in conflict areas of the Middle East and remote regions of Southeast Asia.
Growing up in Evanston, Illinois, Dr. Ewen’s love of Civil War history led him to the Virginia Military Institute for his undergraduate studies in nearby Lexington. He attended Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia, where he developed a keen interest in
global and rural health. A primary focus of his residency training was street medicine, where he helped pioneer an outreach program to provide medical care to homeless individuals, creating a training program that has become a strong presence in the Lancaster, PA community.
Dr. Ewen’s background as a former Junior Military Officer has equipped him with strong leadership, management, and logistical skills, all of which he brings to the Bath Community Physicians Group.
His commitment to ethics-based, service-oriented challenges will play a vital role in continuing to grow a well-rounded team of professionals at BCH and its Four Rural Health Clinics.
“After being commissioned as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army, I had the privilege of working alongside many humble and selfless individuals who instilled in me the importance of simple acts of service,” says Dr. Ewen. “This experience formed the foundation of my passion for serving others as a physician.” He maintains strong clinical interests in pediatrics, point of care ultrasound, osteopathic manipulative therapy, and more, allowing him to provide comprehensive care to patients of all ages.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Ewen enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children. He is an avid outdoorsman who likes to run and read, and he hopes to take advantage of all that our region has to offer in outdoor recreation.
