Covington attorney Mark Perdue has had his law license suspended for 60 days by the Virginia State Bar.
The suspension went into effect Monday.
The suspension centers on two misconduct charges against Perdue, who appeared before the Virginia State Bar’s disciplinary board Oct. 22 and 23.
Perdue received two 60-day suspensions to run concurrently.
The suspensions resulted from Perdue’s representation of a defendant charged with burglary and larceny, and his handling of settlement funds from a personal injury case.
Perdue was also publicly reprimanded by the State Bar for his handling of bankruptcy cases. As part of the reprimand, he was ordered to complete six hours of continuing legal education in ethics by Jan. 4.
Perdue could not be reached for comment this morning. A recorded message at his law office said the office is closed until Jan. 4.
