It was a productive week back in Washington as House Republicans moved to investigate the tragic attempted assassination of President Trump. Last week, I had the opportunity to question FBI Director Christopher Wray and press him to provide better answers to the American people about the events in Butler, PA. Additionally, the CCP has led China to become a major adversary to the United States. The China Select Committee to which I was recently appointed expressed its strong opposition to the new censorship technologies that the China Communist Party (CCP) aims to implement abroad. Last week, the U.S. Border Patrol reported that over 7.9 million illegal immigrants have entered the country under the leadership of Border Czar Harris. Americans cannot bear the continued impact of the Biden-Harris Administration’s disastrous open border policies. It is a great privilege to serve the hardworking constituents of Virginia’s Sixth District in Congress. Rest assured; I will continue to fight for policies that strengthen our great nation.
FBI Director Christopher Wray Testifies
This week, FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before the House Judiciary Committee regarding the attempted assassination of President Trump. After this tragic attack, there has been a bipartisan demand for answers about the numerous security lapses. In my questioning with Director Wray, we learned new information about the shooter’s social media activity. Prior to this hearing, Americans were led to believe the targeted social media activity against the Former President was crafted and published by the shooter. Director Wray confirmed that this post was published not by the shooter but by someone posing as the shooter as a horrific joke. Additionally, Director Wray confirmed that this post was published days after the attempted assassination of President Trump. This hearing was a step closer to delivering the answers the American people deserve. The House Judiciary Committee and the new Trump Assassination Attempt Investigatory Committee are diligently working to investigate this matter to the fullest extent to deliver answers for the American people.
CCP Techno-Authoritarianism
The open exchange of information and discourse is essential to an individual’s understanding of the truth without government interference. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has vast resources that actively suppress the flow of information and control public debate available to its citizens. The CCP has exported this technology to over 80 countries worldwide, including Iran and Russia. This censorship has created a techno-totalitarian state that oppresses its citizens and keeps their citizens in the dark. This troubling model is quickly spreading as the CCP works to extend its censorship technology abroad. It is critical that the United States safeguards the free flow of information on the internet by not adopting China’s model of internet suppression. Media censorship has no place in the United States. I am committed to ensuring that Americans’ God-given constitutional right to free speech is protected in the United States.
Border Czar Harris
Since 2021, Kamala Harris, as the Border Czar, has overseen an overwhelmed southern border, with nearly 10 million illegal immigrant encounters reported by U.S. Border Patrol. Meanwhile, daily encounters have soared to over 4,000. Border Czar Harris claims to care about border security, but her actions suggest otherwise. She has not spoken with Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens for over a year and has only visited the border once. The border czar’s neglect of the historic invasion at our borders is inexcusable and directly endangers our national security. These broken border policies have allowed illegal criminals into our country, with 372 illegal individuals reported on the terrorist watchlist attempting to evade U.S Customs and Border Patrol. Hardworking Americans cannot deal with the influx of migrants caused by these disastrous policies for another 4 years. Even if Border Czar Kamala Harris claims we have secure borders, the evidence proves this to not be truthful.
Congressional Fall Internship Opportunity
Congressman Ben Cline (VA-06) is currently accepting applications for Fall internship opportunities in his Washington, D.C. office. This position offers a unique perspective of the day-to-day operations of the United States Congress.
Interns will work with the Congressman’s staff in the preparation of policy briefs and gain extensive knowledge of the federal legislative process. Additionally, interns will engage with and provide various services to constituents.
