CLIFTON FORGE – Ollie Sterrett Wright, 87, of 1807 North Oakwood Drive, Clifton Forge, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at The Golden Living Center in Buena Vista.
He was born February 12, 1922 in Clifton Forge, a son of the late Russell Taylor Wright and Piney Hostetter Wright. He served in the United States Army during World War II as an Infantry Corporal and was a retired electrician for Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. He attended First Christian Church of Covington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Rose Wright, a sister, Margaret Wright Beasley, and two brothers, James Wilson Wright and Edward Wright.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews including special niece, Katrina “Tina” Hostetter, her husband Eric, and their family of Clifton Forge; a brother, Alfred Carlton “A.C.” Wright and wife Mary Lou of New Port Richey, Fla.; a special companion, Lucille Switzer of Covington; two stepdaughters, LaVerne Hileman of Clifton Forge and Karin Ann Persinger of Monterey; a stepson, Harold Paxton Jr. of Florida, and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment followed in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.
Pallbearers were Tuffy Bush, Frank Persinger, Sid Small, Danny Taylor and Eric Hostetter Sr.
