Mrs. Mary Louise Perry, age 68, of 310 E. Parrish Street, died Saturday, October 24, 2009, at her residence. She was the wife of B. Ray Perry whom she married on June 2, 2001.
Mrs. Perry was born January 8, 1941 in Clymer, PA, the daughter of the late Theodore D. Hankinson and Edna Belle Smith Hankinson. Born at home, she was one of fourteen children. Mrs. Perry graduated from Penns Manor High School in, Clymer PA, went to Niagara Falls College in New York where she studied Childscology.
From 1966 until 1970, she was president, teacher, and cook for Niagara Falls University Head Start and Day Care, from 1970 until 1996, was a van driver, teacher and cook for Indiana Co Day Care as well as a part time nanny and caretaker for Jewish families.
Mrs. Perry was a PTA member for Penns Manor School in Clymer, PA from 1974 until 1984, a member of Groundhog Club in Punxtawney, PA, from 1983 to 2000; she was secretary/treasurer for Clymer Christian Church in Clymer, PA.
She was a den mother for cub scouts from 1971 until 1972, president, secretary, and treasurer for Tops in Dixonville, PA from 1971 to 1999, supported the Drill Team which six of her children belonged to and she attended every parade from 1975 until 1976. She was a member of the Eastern Orthodox Foundation from 1992 until 1996. From 1999 until 2000, she was a Chaplin in the Ind. PA Order of Moose, member of the Eagles Club and a member of the Covington Moose. She was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. She loved music, especially singing with her husband Ray at local nursing homes.
In addition to her husband, B. Ray Perry, Mrs. Perry is survived by seven children, James Hankinson wife Vivan of Clarendon, Pa, Janet Persinger of Roanoke, JoAnn Bash and husband Scot of Commodore, PA, Linda Utberg and husband Hank of Beckley, WV, Larry Richards and wife Liz of Avonmore, PA, Phylliss Scott of Commodore, PA and LaVinia Gilbert of Marion Center, PA; six brothers, Tom Hankinson of Friendsville, TN, Rodger Hankinson of Erie, PA, Gerald Hankinson of Erie, PA, Walter Hankinson of Heilwood, PA, Richard Hankinson of Paulding, OH, Paul Hankinson of Commodore , PA. two sisters, Linda Trevison of Erie, PA, Barbara Stokes of Hobart, IN; children of Ray: Thomas P. Perry, Timothy P. Perry and wife Marilyn, Mitchell R. Perry and wife Tanya, Joy Perry Basham and husband Tom and Christopher W. Perry and wife Lola; twenty-six grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Theodore D. Hankinson and Edna Belle Smith Hankinson, Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph D. Richards in 1975, her second husband, John V. Jackson in 1998; two sisters, Gloria Bugay and infant, Grace Hankinson; two brothers, Arthur Hankinson, Ted Hankinson, Jr.; grandsons, baby Bash in 1982, Robert Gilbert in 2008; granddaughters, Kelsey and Kinsley.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Tuesday October 27, 2009 from the McAllister Memorial Presbyterian church with Rev. Mike Fleenor officiating. Interment will follow in Falling Spring Presbyterian church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Justin Utberg, Jacob Bash, Joshua Scott, Carlos Persinger, DaKato Holstead, Devin Barley and Ben Saville.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P. M. at Loving Funeral Home.
