Mrs. Celia Maude Childs Ginn, lifetime resident of Alleghany County, completed her life’s journey on December 19, 2009, at the Highland House, Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge.

Celia was a retired clerk of the Alleghany County School Board after serving thirty-eight years in that position. She also was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Her beloved husband, James “Happy” Ginn, and parents, Harry and Myrtle Tingler Childs preceded her in death.

She is survived by one sister, Theda Sylvia Childs Bess of Covington; one “little sister”, Kay Wolfe of Covington, cousins, Ruth and Gene Tingler and Wanda Fridley of Troutville. Also, one brother and sister-in-law, George “Tut” and Charlotte Ginn of Los Angeles, CA; special friends, Arthur and Charlotte Anderson of Midlothian and the Nicholson family, Stephen and Martha Nicholson of Covington; Heather Nicholson of Richmond; Jennifer Nicholson Downey of New York City, NY; numerous members of her extended family; and the staff of the Highland House.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 4, 2010, at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Hartsfield officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bo Carper, Pete Leitch, Stephen Nicholson, Jerry Mayberry, and Curly Smith.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time at Temple Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Temple Baptist Church, 300 Stratton, Covington, VA 24426 or Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
