CLIFTON FORGE - A Dec. 7 inspection of Nicely Funeral Home by the Virginia Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers revealed no deficiencies.
A letter from the board was received by the funeral home Jan. 9.
“The Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers congratulates you and your staff for a job well done. With the quantity of regulatory supervision from state and federal agencies, maintaining full compliance is a major undertaking,” Kathy Truesdale, compliance manager for the Virginia board in Richmond, said in the letter.
“We are regulated by our State Board of Health Professionals and the Federal Trade Commission. Their main concern is that the consumers (the families we serve) are treated fairly. We were inspected during a time when we were very busy. Funeral service in Virginia is a super regulated industry. During inspections, they check our price lists, pre-arranged funeral plans, licensing of the funeral home and the facility for cleanliness. We work hard to be compliant and to continue to operate in a manner that is professional, as well as personal,” said Tommy Slusser of Nicely Funeral Home.
