LEXINGTON – Lillian Sellers Petty, 91, of Lexington, formerly of Goshen, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009.

Born Oct. 23, 1918 in Covington, she was a daughter of the late Eddie Calvin Sellers and Dora Rogers Sellers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Clifton Petty; a son, Danny C. Petty, and a daughter, Carol L. Petty.

Mrs. Petty worked for the Commissioner of revenue in Clifton Forge. She was the first female Rockbridge County school bus driver and was active in business and church work in the Goshen area.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley J. Matthews of Austin, Texas, Beverley F. Ayers of Lexington, and Phyllis K. Gray and husband, Tex, of Bridgewater; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harrison Funeral Chapel in Lexington with the rev. Michael Wilburn officiating. A private burial will be conducted in Goshen Baptist Church cemetery, Goshen.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times at the home of Beverley Ayers.

Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington.
