James Franklin “Frankie” Fairburn, Sr., 71, of 1007 Little Russell Creek Road of Stuart, and formerly of Clifton Forge went to his heavenly father’s home Friday, January 1, 2010 at Pioneer Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Manassas, Virginia on July 26, 1938 a son of the late Frank Oscar and Alice Marie Shoemaker Fairburn. He was a retired Conductor with CSX Transportation. He was a avid gun enthusiast and was a former member of the Bear Loop Hunt Club, Inc. in Bath county of which he had been a member for most of his life. He is an avid sportsman and rifleman and rarely missed the game he set his sights on. He was a previous member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge # 1065 of Clifton Forge, and was a member of the Iron Gate United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy M. and Bernie Teaford of Clifton Forge; 2 sons, James F. “Jeff” Fairburn, Jr. of Millboro and Michael W. Fairburn of Johnson City, Tennessee; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas B. “Tommy” and Reva Fairburn of Crozier, Virginia; 4 grandchildren, Kelsey and Drew Teaford and Brandon and Jacob Fairburn; a nephew Scott Fairburn. He is also survived by his best friend and companion of 16 years Bonnie DeHart and her granddaughter he helped raise Brooke Renee Kendrick both of Stuart, and loyal companion “Pete”.
A Funeral Service will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Rev. W. Pembroke Hall officiating. Interment will be made in the Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nicely Funeral Home following the service.
