Richard Smith

ROANOKE - Richard T. Smith, 73, of Roanoke, and formerly of Clifton Forge, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.

Rich was a 1956 graduate of Clifton Forge High School and starred in football, basketball, and baseball. He was often referred to as one of the best athletes to wear the Mountaineer green and gold. Mr. Smith was retired from Yokohama Tire and Rubber

He was preceded in death be his wife, Sara Bland Smith; and a daughter, Cynthia Looney.

Surviving are his daughter, Pam McBride; granddaughters, Meredith, Colleen, and Sara McBride; and great-granddaughter, Ryland McBride.

Mr. Smith’s body was cremated. There will be no visitation or funeral service.
