The Covington eighth grade basketball team improved to 3-4 on the season by winning their past two games.
The Covington 8th graders knocked off Boys’ Home 59-27 and Highland County 50-25.
In the win over Boys’ Home, Mikey Woodson paced Covington with 14 points, while Kashawn Carter added 11 and Khalil Carter chipped in six.
Forrest Mayberry, Trevor Jack, Luke Moye, Jason Tingler, Ethan Pierce and Austin Hinkle scored four each, while Cody Givens added three. Cameron Phillips and Alex Gibson rounded out the scoring with two each.
Lamont Freeman led Boys’ Home with 13 points.
Mayberry and Moye paced the Cougars with seven points each in the win over Highland. Pierce and Jack had five points apiece, while Phillips, Woodson and Givens had four points each.
Colton Howard and Gavin Hunter had three points each and Kashawn Carter, Khalil Carter, Hinkle and Chris Barber rounded out the Covington scoring with two points apiece.
Matthew Trible led Highland with 11 points.
Covington will be back in action next Tuesday at home against Roanoke Catholic at 5:30 p.m.
