A Covington woman facing charges in a murder-for-hire plot was arraigned in Alleghany County General District Court Wednesday.
Mary Katherine Davis, 58, of Covington, is charged with attempted capitol murder for hire and solicitation for murder.
She was arraigned Thursday morning before General District Court Judge Greg Mooney. A bond hearing has been set for 3:30 p.m. this afternoon. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 28.
Davis was arrested Monday after she allegedly gave an undercover Virginia State Police agent a cash downpayment to arrange the murder of her husband.
Davis faces 20 years to life in prison on the attempted capitol murder charge. She faces five to 40 years on the charge of solicitation to commit murder.
