Mrs. Una Belle Webb Jones, 91, formerly of Dressler Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Brian Center Nursing Care, Low Moor. She was the wife of the late Wilbur Woodrow Jones whom she married in 1958.
Mrs. Jones was born June 15, 1918 in Raleigh County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Sebird Jacob Webb and Dora McGrady Webb. A resident of this community since 1943, she was employed as a salesperson and buyer for Leggetts Department Store, retiring in 1973 with 30 years service. Mrs. Jones was a member of First Christian Church, the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class and a member of the choir. She was an avid reader, loved to do crossword puzzles, and enjoyed flowers and plants especially her African violets. Mrs. Jones enjoyed talking with people and was known for her sense of humor.
Mrs. Jones is survived by one brother, Donald Hylton and wife, Phyllis of Covington and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sebird Jacob Webb and Dora McGrady Webb and her husband, Wilbur Woodrow Jones, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew Webb, James Webb; three sisters, Lora Webb Hylton, Anna Webb Lawson, Elizabeth Webb Spurgeon.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Chris Goodwin, Ray Dietrich, Tommy Smith, Ray Kelley and Pat Goodwin.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Donald Hylton, 339 E. Gray Street, Covington.
