Carl Hicks Griffith, 91, of Covington, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at the Brian Center in Low Moor.

He was born August 14, 1918 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Clarence G. and Zula VanBuren Griffith.

Mr. Griffith served with the United States Navy during World War II. He retired in 1980 as the owner and operator of Griff’s Electric. Mr. Griffith was a member of the Faith Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be conducted this evening at 6:30 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. John Burnham officiating.

Following the funeral service the family will receive their friends at the church.

Active pallbearers will be Ryan Wolfe, Adam Wolfe, Justin Scruggs, Casey Scruggs, Emmalea Griffth, Sam Dennis, Keith Porterfield and Ronnie Porterfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Griffith, Wade Griffith, Harold Griffith, Pete Griffith, Sidney Spellman, Alvin Porterfield and Kendall Porterfield.

The interment will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial donations in Mr. Griffith’s name be made to the Fellowship Hall Building Fund of Faith Baptist Church, Covington, Va. 24426.
