Area Services Scheduled For Christmas Eve

The following is a list of services scheduled for the area on Christmas Eve.

First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church in Covington will hold a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols at 4:45 p.m. The service will feature carols, anthems and Scripture. It will include the Chancel and Handbell choirs, solists Paul Linkenhoker, Miguel Petrosky, Susan Potter, Alex Rose and Tammy Scruggs, and instrumentalists Joe Wilson and the Mason Brass Quartet. Scripture lessons will be read by the Rev. Jamie Pharr and lay readers from the congregation. The church is located at the corner of Maple Avenue and Locust St. In case of inclement weather, call 962-0922 or 862-7017.

McAllister Memorial Presbyterian

McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church will hold a musical Christmas Eve worship service at 7 p.m. The service will feature lessons, Christmas carols and hymns.

Covington Baptist Church

Covington Baptist Church will conduct a candlelight worship service on Christmas Eve, beginning at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary. The church is located at 280 W. Riverside Street, across from the WECCU Credit Union.

Faith Baptist Church

Faith Baptist Church, 311 Jackson Dr., Covington, will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Matt Walls from Bonaire, Ga.

Iron Gate Baptist Church

Iron Gate Baptist Church will hold a candlelight Chrisrtmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m.

Granbery United Methodist

Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church will hold a candlelight Christmas Eve Service with communion Thursday at 7 p.m. The church is located at 425 W. Main St., Covington.

Edgemont ARP Church

Edgemont Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church will conduct a candlelight service Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. The church is located at 2306 Church Ave.

Low Moor Presbyterian Church

Low Moor Presbyterian Church will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. As part of the service, children will act our the Biblical account of the birth of Christ.

Wild Meadow Baptist Church

Wild Meadow Baptist Church, Route 92 North, White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., will hold a Christmas Eve Service at 7 p.m.

Emmanuel Episcopal Church

Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Maple Avenue in Covington will celebrate the Eve of the Nativity with a Holy Eucharist Service Thursday. The service begins at 10:30 p.m., with special music and the Eucharist begins at 11 p.m. The Rev. LeBaron Taylor is rector. Choir members from several Covington churches will participate in the Christmas Eve Service.
