Hometown Holidays in the Highlands will be held in Covington and Clifton Forge Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Events have been scheduled for the three days sponsored by the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce, Clifton Forge

Retail Merchants, Clifton Forge Main Street and Olde Town Covington.

FRIDAY

Open house at various retail stores, register for door prizes; Festival of Trees at Sonabank, Clifton Forge, 9 a. m. to 7 p. m. and at the Covington Depot, 3 to 5 p. m.; Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, Clifton Forge, 10 a. m. to 4:30 p. m.; C&O Railway Heritage Center, Clifton Forge, 10 a. m. to 5 p. m., includes the Polar Express Adventure at 5:30 p. m., call 862-2210 for reservations; Clifton Forge Christmas parade, 7 p. m., visit with Santa Claus at the Masonic Theatre, Clifton Forge; Community Christmas Sing at the Masonic Theatre, 8 p. m., refreshments, musical groups from Main street Baptist and Clifton Forge Presbyterian churches.

SATURDAY

Open house at various retail stores, register for door prizes;

Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce Open House, Covington, 9 a. m. to 6 p. m., Covington Junior Woman’s Club ornaments, Alleghany throws and Kiwanis applebutter will be available for sale; Festival of Trees, Sonabank, Clifton Forge, 9 a. m. to 5 p. m., Covington Depot, 2 to 4 p. m. and 6 to 9 p.m.; breakfast with Santa, Mountain View Restaurant, 9 to 11 a. m.; Clifton Forge Woman’s Club Christmas Home Tour, 11 a. m. to 3 p. m, $10, 862-2998; Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, Clifton Forge, 10 a. m. to 4:30 p. m.; Santa’s cookie contest and Mrs. Claus Ornament Contest, registration 10-11 a.m. McCarthy Building, Main Street, Covington, winners announced at 1:30 p. m., 862-0369 for information; C&O Railway Heritage Center, 10 a. m. to 4 p. m.; Everyday Elegance Tea Tastings, Main and Court streets, Covington, 10 a. m. to 5 p. m.;

Polar Express Adventure, C&O Heritage Center, Clifton Forge 11 a. m. and 2 p. m., 862-2210 for reservations; pictures with Santa, Covington Vintage Bouquet, 11 a. m. to 1 p. m., $5; Christmas Story Time, C. P. Jones Library, Covington, 12:30-1:30 p. m.; Christmas carolers at various locations in Covington; Covington Christmas parade, 6 p. m., visit with Santa Claus at the Covington Depot on Maple Avenue after the parade.

SUNDAY

Afternoon Tea with Mrs. Claus, Everyday Elegance, 2 p. m., ages five to adult, $8 per person, reservations required, 691-4896, pictures available by Crawford Photography; Festival of Trees, Covington Depot, 2 to 4 p. m.; Polar Express Adventure, C&O Historical Center, 2 p. m., 862-2210 for reservations; Alleghany Highlands Chorale Christmas program, McAllister Presbyterian Church, Covington, 7 p. m.
