Ralph Eugene Lane, Sr.
Mr. Ralph Eugene Lane, Sr. age 76, of Covington, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. He was the husband of Ruth Smith Lane.
Mr. Lane was born January 18, 1948 in Marlinton, WV, the son of the late Ralph Russell Lane and Glenna Pearl Cook Lane. He had been a resident of this community since 1970. Ralph was a former employee of Hercules where he was in the Film Department before finishing his career at Meade Westvaco where he worked in the Wood Yard. Mr. Lane was a member of Faith Baptist Church. In his spare time. Ralph enjoyed mowing grass and operated Rocky Lawn Care Service.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, Mr. Lane is survived by a son, Ralph Eugene Lane, Jr. and wife, Kimberly of Christiansburg; a grandson, Luke Bradley Lane; a granddaughter, Lauren Lola Audrey Lane; two brothers, Melvin Lane of Renick, WV and David Lane of Marlinton WV; a sister, Dorothy Crites of Lewisburg, WV; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pete and Barbara Leitch.
In addition to his parents, Ralph and Glenna Lane, Mr. Lane was preceded in death by a brother, Burley Lane and two sisters, Pauline Hickman and Dottie Curry.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 20, 2024, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Price officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
