A resident of Covington, and member of the Alleghany Cruisers car club received the top award at the John Henry Days car show held in Talcott WV on July 14.
Mickey Floyd was awarded the Club Choice award for her 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Yenko Super Car tribute, which was on display at the show.
This award is given annually to the car that the host club considers to be the best in show vehicle. Nearly 150 vehicles were entered in this event, which attracts cars from all over the region. The event is part of the John Henry Days Festival which is held each year in Talcott.
Mickey, a life long car enthusiast, is the treasurer for the Alleghany Cruisers and is a charter member of the club. She grew up around cars as her father, the late Jim Clemons was a well-known car enthusiast and her brother, Eddy Clemons was instrumental in establishing the car culture that we have today. This passion for the car culture extends throughout her family as her husband R.L, son Robert, daughter Heather and son-in-law Mike Simmons are all active members of the car community.
Mickey’s black 1969 Chevelle has become one of the area’s most recognizable cars. It can often be seen at area events throughout the year.
