CLIFTON FORGE – The Clifton Forge Woman’s Club met Monday, Oct. 5 at the newly-established Jack Mason’s Tavern on Ridgeway Street in Clifton Forge.
Owners, Wendy Hudler and Martha Mason Altherholt, took the club members on a tour of the tavern. They have spent a year renovating the building with authentic tavern décor. There is a game room featuring gaming tables. The dining area is decorated with ha theme appropriate for a European-style pub. One of the special features is a state-of-the-art kitchen.
The owners emphasized that it will be a family-oriented restaurant and gathering place. All restorations were completed by local craftsmen. The expected opening will be Nov. 1.
President Drewry thanked Wendy and Martha for their hospitality and wished them every success with their venture.
During the business session, Julia Bradley thanked members for their participation in the recently held bake/hot dog sale in front of Kroger. She also expressed appreciation for the cooperation of Sav-a-Lot and Caroline and Silas Wilson. Funds received will go to the Clifton Forge Food Pantry.
Post cards depicting pictures of local buildings of interest in Clifton Forge are ready for sale and located at The Club Car and Heirlooms.
The “Homes for the Holidays” tour, scheduled for December, will feature five homes in Clifton Forge. Tickets for the tour will be $10.
The next club meeting will be Monday, Nov. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the clubhouse. Diane Garcia will present a program on “Everyday Elegance.”
Hostesses for October were Nancy Dobbs, Reba Mandeville, Martha McMullan, Betty Jo Rhodes, Betty Sheets and Ann Wright.
