MILLBORO - With Santa Claus leading the way atop a Millboro fire engine, the annual Millboro Christmas parade was held Saturday afternoon, sponsored by the Millboro Fire Department.
The Judge’s Choice award went to Jesse Thompson.
The Craigsville Fire Department won the award for the best appearing fire department.
The award for the fire department traveling the longest distance was given to the Iron Gate Fire Department.
Millboro Area Rescue Squad won the award for the best appearing rescue squad.
The award for the best appearing Christmas Float was given to James “Cheeze Claus” Smith, who gave out toys and bicycles to the children along the parade route.
The best appearing personal vehicle was given to Bill Chambers with his 1936 Chevrolet.
The award for the best showing of Christmas Spirit went to Cheeze Smith as well.
Hunter Grimm won the award for the best appearing ATV.
The Virginia Division of Forestry, with Smokey the Bear riding atop a bulldozer, won the award as the best appearing commercial vehicle.
Other entries included:
Linda Law in a decorated truck; Julie McAllister in a convertible; Lindsay’s Electric and Home Improvements; William Sensabagh and his Dodge truck.
After the parade, children gathered at the Millboro Fire Department building to visit with Santa and give him their Christmas wishes.
The Millboro parade was the fourth to be held in the Alleghany Highlands.
The Hot Springs Christmas parade is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Saturday.
