Joan Matz

Antonia Wood McCoy of Glen Wilton received word of the death of her longtime friend, Joan Kelly Matz of Quincy, Mich.

Mrs. Matz died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2009 following a short illness and surgery. A funeral service was conducted in Quincy, Mich. Nov. 13.

She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband, Leo in October 1997 and is survived by her three children, Karen Sprunger and husband, Henry of Indiana, Kelly Matz of Byron Center, Mich., and Renee Blankson and husband Garrett of Texas; five grandchildren; a sister, Lois Stevens of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and brother Neil Kelly and wife, Donna, of Rhode Island; a number of nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Mrs. Matz was an avid golfer and drove a school bus for the Branch County, Mich. School system for many years until her retirement. The Matz family have been visitors in Glen Wilton at the McCoy residence numerous times with Joan and friends having visited within the last year.
