BELTON, Texas – Mary Cathern Brady Putnam, 74, of Belton, Texas and formerly of Clifton Forge died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at her home in Belton.
Born Aug. 23, 1935, in Clifton Forge Mary, fondly known as “Sugar” to many, was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mamie Louise Morgan Brady.
She was a homemaker most of her life raising 12 children and a number of grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee “Wimpy” Putnam in January 1990; three brothers, Richard Cleveland Brady, Andrew Franklin Brady, Gerald Brady; and a sister, Mae Elizabeth Corker.
Surviving are eight daughters, Golda Louise Putnam and Fiance Keith Bennett of Belton, Texas, Hazel Marie Wills-Gottlieb and husband, Mark, of Smithfield, Tracy Ann Perry of Covington, Wilma Lee Gregory and husband, Mark, of Clarksville, Tenn., Elizabeth Putnam of Clifton Forge, Joy Kathleen Bush and husband, James, of Covington, Ethel Bernice Adams and husband, Pete, of Millboro, Georganna Trinnette Putnam of Goshen; four sons, Andrew Fuller Putnam and wife, Dortha of Belton, Texas, Rodney Sherwood Putnam of Millboro, Donald Alan Putnam of Belton, Texas, and John Fitzgerald and wife, Kathy, of Valatie, N.Y.
She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, Paul Donald Westbury Jr., Charles Bryant Wills III, April Marie Wills, Candace Marie Chumney, Courtney Brooke Loan, Keith Alexander Putnam, Daniel Lee Putnam, Donald Alan Meadows, Donald Travis Perry, Diane Michele Perry, Michael Alan Perry Jr., Charity Ann Perry, John Fitzgerald Putnam Jr., Rebecca Ann Putnam, William Lee Putnam II, Catherine Hope Hyler, Andrew Franklin Hyler Carnahan, Teresa Lenea Dudley, Oler Ira Dudley III, Jessica Lynn Little, Zachary James Little, Stanley Albert Lattimer Jr., Racheal Bernice Lattimer, Brett Alan Putnam, and Steven Anthony Wilhelm; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition, she is survived by a sister, Louise Morgan Nicely; and brothers, Raymond Elwood Brady, Lee Wilson “Tumpy” Brady, and William George “Trippy” Brady.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to a local hospice organization.
