CLIFTON FORGE – Barbara Buchanan Gibson, 79, of 824 Brussels Ave., Clifton Forge, died Friday Dec. 4, 2009 at her residence.
She was born in Clifton Forge, January 17, 1930, a daughter of the late Murray F. and Margaret Scott Buchanan. She was a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church and a retired store clerk with Owen’s Pharmacy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clarence Reginald Gibson in October of this year; a grandson, Timothy Rock; two brothers, Murray F. “Bubby” Buchanan, and Davis Burdette “Dickie” Buchanan.
She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Louise Gibson Dillon, of Clifton Forge; a brother, James Willis “Jimmy” Buchanan, of Covington; a number of nieces and nephews; special great-nephews Sam Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, Daniel Anderson; and special caregivers and friends Sherry Fridley, Steve Wilmer, Jeannie Boguess, and Betty Dudley
A funeral service will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Merrell, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Buchanan, Craig Anderson, Sam Anderson, Buddy Buchanan, Bobby Buchanan, Blair Nicely and Chad Nicely.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
