Obie Silas “Joe” Vest, Jr,
Obie Silas “Joe” Vest, Jr., age 76, of 817 Kensington Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at his residence.
Obie was born on January 28, 1948 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Obie Silas Vest, Sr. and Mary Lucille Vest Simpson. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Covington V.F.W. Post 1033. He was an EMT, E. for Republic Ambulance, and volunteered for the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad for over 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dianna Vest.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Ann Martin Vest; and children, Amanda Robinson and husband Michael, Darlene Godfrey and husband Eric, Dayna Lopez and husband Carlos, Misty Dawn Mealey, Rachel Wolfe and husband Thomas, Michael Wolfe, Ruby Vest, and Ricky Vest and wife Michelle; two brothers, James Vest and wife Stacey, and David Vest and wife Lori; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a special companion, Scooby Doo.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
