Honoring our area nursing home veterans started with Valentines for Veterans and our Senior Vice President, Becky Lane, wanted to do more so she started making gift bags with a personal touch for each veteran and enclosing a card. Gift bags were given for Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter and Memorial Day.
Members of the auxiliary teamed together to help make this possible. Thank you to Patty McAnnally, Phyllis Givens, Martha Terry, Brenda Martin and Linda Morrison for all you did this Memorial Day to say “thank you” to those who gave so much for our country and freedom. Thank you also to Mrs. Arthur’s 4th grade class at Jeter-Watson Elementary School for the cards which always bring a smile.
Area nursing homes include The Brian Center, The Woodlands, Highland House and Alleghany Health and Rehabilitation. These gifts and cards bring a lot of joy to a lot of veterans and lets them know that America still appreciates what they did for our country.
We haven’t announced our next holiday gift bag yet but it will come.
