TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – A Tucson mother admitted before a Pima County Superior Court judge that she starved her baby.
Terri Sullivan said Wednesday she failed to do what she was supposed to do in caring for her daughter Kimberlie.
The 27-year-old Sullivan agreed to serve a life term in prison with parole possible after 25 years.
Sullivan acknowledged she not only didn’t feed the baby after it was born in July of 2008, she also failed to get help when it became clear the child was dying.
Sullivan and her husband were arrested Aug. 30, 2008.
Scott Sullivan is set to go on trial Feb. 23 in the baby’s death. He could receive a sentence of life without parole or life with parole possible after 35 years.
Police reports show firefighters and police officers found baby Kimberlie extremely malnourished and emaciated.
