Pioneer District Championship Results/White wins twice

PEARISBURG – The 2024 Pioneer District Outdoor Track & Field championships were held on May 16th in Pearisburg at Giles High School track. Narrows swept both the boys and girls team championships.
 
Out of the six district schools with girls’ teams, Bath County finished fifth with 39 total team points. The Chargers won three events and finished in the top 5 in four different events. 
 
Natalie White placed first in both the girls 800- and 3200-meter runs. White won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:37.80 and was 2 minutes 69 seconds faster than her nearest opponent. In the 3200, White won with a time of 12:53.56 and was just under a minute faster than the second-place runner.
 
Meanwhile, Abbey Phillips won the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.57. Phillips held off Jackie Kirby of Narrows who finished right behind with a time of 20.28.
 
The Chargers girls 4×100 relay team placed second out of three teams that participated in the event. The relay runners consisted of Phillips, Zy Coleman, Samantha Horne, and Laci Ryder. 
 
Bath County did not have a competitor in the boys’ events.
