ELLISTON – For a second year in a row Eastern Montgomery knocked off Bath County for the boys Pioneer District Championship winning 8-0 in Elliston last Monday night.
The third time was not the charm for the Chargers who had been swept in their two regular season games with the Mustangs losing a combined 11-1.
Prior to the district tournament loss BCHS had been playing well. The team was riding a two-game win streak and were winners of five of their previous seven contests.
Bath County fell way behind in the first half after allowing seven goals to cross the nets.
Sophomore Noah Bolling and junior Braiden Mabe each had four steals to lead the Chargers.
The Chargers only attempted two shots on goal, both coming from senior Andrew Turner.
Senior goalkeeper Frankie DeBoe played the entire game and finished with 12 saves
Bath County 0 0 – 0
Eastern Montgomery 7 1 – 8
