Alleghany High School senior Kaidence Nicely expresses joy as she is capped by junior Peyton Broughman during the school’s first-ever capping ceremony on Friday, May 24. The ceremony signifies the transition that is about to occur as seniors prepare to graduate and juniors are set to become the next senior class. The tradition was started years ago by the late Whitney Trumbo, who served as a principal at Covington High School. The tradition was carried forward to AHS this year when it became the joint high school for Alleghany Highlands Public Schools. The Class of 2024 will graduate on June 1 at Casey Field in Covington. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. (AHPS Photo)
