The former Hotel Collins property in Covington has been sold for $3,500.
The property, located on North Maple Avenue, was sold at a tax sale on May 22. The high bidder was Robert C. “Dizzy” Garten.
The city sold the property after filing suit against the former property owner, Kepri International LLC, in June 2019.
Built in 1910, the Hotel Collins had 75 guest rooms and a restaurant. It was located near a railroad passenger station.
City officials had hoped to refurbish the property through a public-private partnership.
The registered agent for Kepri International LLC was listed as Ketki Patel of Raleigh, N.C. The limited liability partnership was administratively dissolved in 2014
