Town Council met at noon today in a special called meeting to confirm the declaration of a local emergency and to adopt an emergency ordinance that modifies public meetings and public hearing practices and procedures during the emergency.
The ordinance allows meeting of the Town Council and its boards and commissions to be conducted by electronic means.
Most, if not all, public meetings will be held during this emergency via telephone conference call.
Agendas published for these meetings will include the phone number to be used as well as the access code.
Council will not be allowing verbal public comments but will have read aloud during the meeting all comments received by mail, or email prior to the meeting.
Council also adopted an emergency ordinance waiving penalties and interest on meals from March 1 until May 31, 2020 with all such taxes still being due and penalties and interest accruing on June 1, 2020.
