WARM SPRINGS — Stephen (Stevie) Franklin Hodge, 69, of Warm Springs, Virginia passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at Bath Community Hospital.
He was born April 10, 1951, in Bath County, a son of the late Arnold Harnesbarger and Reba (Smith) Hodge.
Stevie attended and held membership with Life Line Ministry Church, which he joined in 1980.
Mr. Hodge retired from Bath County Public Schools where he was employed as a school bus driver for over 25 years and to this day, held dear all the children he transported.
Since retirement, he enjoyed operating his lawn mowing and snow pushing service. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Springers Motorcycle Club and the Cold Spring Hunt Club Apple Dumpling Gang.
A true family man, Stevie loved time spent with family, especially his grandchildren. One of his favorite things was a good meal with family on the holidays. He will also be remembered for his joking around with friends and enjoyed golfing and hunting, even though it was the “big one” that always got away, according to his wife. Above all, Stevie will be remembered as a loving husband, father and granddad, as well as a fun-loving and charitable person within his community.
Stevie is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda (Terry) Hodge; daughter, Tammy H. Lowry and husband, Glen; son, Timmy Hodge and wife, Samantha; grandchildren, Emily Lowry and fiancé, Grayson Coleman, Chelsey Lowry, and Nicholas, Shain and Lukas Hodge, all of Warm Springs; brother, Sammy Hodge and wife, Agnes of Hot Springs; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends throughout his community.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Gary Hodge.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2020 in George Cleek Cemetery, which he maintained for 30 years, with pastor Zachary Royer officiating.
The staff of Obaugh Funeral Home will receive those wishing to pay their respects throughout the day Saturday, May 30 between the hours of 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be Grayson Coleman, Tony Frady, Matt McElwee, Lynn Hicks, Harold Keyser, Michael Lowry, Tommy Baldwin and Steve Sweitzer.
Honorary pallbearers will be extended family members and his many friends in attendance.
Memorial contributions may be sent to George Cleek Cemetery, c/o Polly Rector, P. O. Box 234, Millboro, Va. 24460 or to a charity of choice.
The Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, Virginia, is handling the arrangements.
