Mrs. Virginia Helmintoller “Jenny” May, age 75, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. She was the wife of Roger Keith May.
Mrs. May was born May 21, 1945 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Jack Alvin Helmintoller and Ruby Clara Tucker Helmintoller.
A lifetime resident of this community, she was employed as certified nursing assistant for a number of years before retiring from Bath County Physicians Group. Mrs. May was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. May is survived by a son, Glenn Keith May and wife, Rhonda; two grandchildren, Makayla C. May and Erin E. May; a brother, John W. Helmintoller and wife, Mae of Hot Springs; two sisters, Nancy Mae Helmintoller of Hot Springs and Betty Joyce Roark of Norfolk; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. May is preceded in death by four brothers, David R. Helmintoller, William Alvin Helmintoller, Luther Jordan Helmintoller and Richard Lee Helmintoller.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 13, 2020, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Jeff McCray, Tom Stanley, Dave Dunn, Jeff Crance, Walter Adams and Morris O’Conner.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
