The City of Covington wants to make citizens aware that the 2024 Personal Property filing forms have been mailed.
These forms are used to assess personal property owned on January 1st by the City of Covington residents. They are to be verified by the taxpayer and returned to the Commissioner of the Revenues office with corrections noted, taxpayer signature, and phone number.
These forms must be filed by January 31st to avoid a late filing penalty. The penalty for failure to file or late filing is 10% of the tax or $10.00 whichever is greater, not to exceed the amount of tax. New residents of the city, who moved here January 1, 2024, or earlier, may obtain the forms in the office of the Commissioner of the Revenue. Taxpayers may file by mail, file in person at the Commissioner of Revenue’s office, or use the drop box outside the Treasurer’s office.
If you use the drop box, please use the envelope provided to ensure proper delivery. If you did not receive your form, please visit the Commissioner of Revenue’s office and one can be reprinted.
Please direct any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have to the Commissioner of the Revenue Office at (540) 965-6350.
