At a called council meeting on Sunday, December 31, 2023, it was decided by a unanimous vote of Clifton Forge Town Council to place town attorney Jared Jenkins on nonpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of a state bar hearing to be conducted on January 17 & 18, 2024.
Mr. Jenkins responded to this by resigning as the town attorney effective immediately.
The town is currently working with The Virginia Municipal League (VML) to appoint an interim attorney until a search can be completed for a new permanent town attorney.
The Virginian Review will be following up on this matter and will provide more information as it becomes available.
