The Alleghany High School Concert and Treble Choirs are proud to announce this weekend’s first event of the year: A “Disney Revue” concert and dessert buffet! The choirs have been working hard to get ready for the event, rehearsing several Disney songs in anticipation, including choreography.
First up to perform will be Concert Choir who are expected to take the stage for about 45 minutes singing songs like “Reflection” from “Mulan,” “When Will My Life Begin” from “Tangled,” and “Colors of the Wind” from “Pocahontas.”
Immediately following their set, an intermission will begin where a buffet of desserts —all prepared and donated by parents— will be served in the cafeteria, in true “Beauty and the Beast” fashion. It will be the perfect time “prop your feet up and eat up” before the second choir takes their turn.
After intermission, the Treble Choir (all girls) will take their turn dazzling the audience with songs like “A Whole New World” from “Alladin,” “Part of Your World” from “The Little Mermaid,” and a medley from the hit movie “Frozen.” Choir Director Amanda Sprouse also says there will be 7 solos between each group which will be sung throughout the fun-filled evening.
When asked what guests can expect, Sprouse said, “This is not your typical choir show. The kids have worked really hard to produce something that’s fun for all ages, especially for families with kids. We’re going to have songs all the way back from Disney’s Cinderella up to Encanto, everywhere in between… We have lighting, we have dancing, we have soloists, we have group numbers… it’s our first show of the year, but it’s also a fundraiser for us to help raise funds for the many needs of our department… so we appreciate all the community’s support for that… after two months of working on this, the kids just want to see faces smiling at them and knowing that there’s support in the community for them.”
Senior Samuel Brookman added, “This fall review particularly to me actually means a lot because this is my last fall review, being a senior here at AHS, and I think it’s actually quite fitting to end, for me, on Disney because I kind of grew up on quite a few Disney films, classic Disney films like ‘The Lion King’… so we would love to see you out there!”
These talented choirs invite you to be their guest this weekend with three separate shows for your convenience. Friday night will kick things off at 7 p.m., then Saturday, the shows are at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the bargain price of $5 each.
