Richard Wendell “Dick” Barner, 73, of 309 Jonestown Road died Wednesday, August 19, 2020, in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.
Mr. Barner was born August 3, 1947, in Washington state a son of Richard L. Barner of Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Wright Barner, in 2016 and by one brother.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War with the U.S. Marine Corps.
 He had retired as a designer for Acme Concrete Co. in Winchester.
Surviving in addition to his father are two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Tracy Barner of Covington and Tony and Lisa Barner, of Union W.Va.; four grandchildren, Cameron and Ashley Barner of Richmond,  Kaitlyn and Jeremy Paxton of Covington, Scott Barner of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Lauren Barner of Jacksonville, Fla.; one great granddaughter, Lexi Paxton, of Covington; one brother; two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020, in Lone Star Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Earwood officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Barner’s name to Lone Star Baptist Church Building Fund at 6115 Potts Creek Rd. Covington Va. 24426
Arritt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
