COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – On May 11, the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office was conducting an online investigation into certain crimes directed at children when a 50-year-old male agreed to meet with an underage child for inappropriate activities. When the male arrived at an agreed-upon location, he was taken into custody by Alleghany County deputies with assistance from the Virginia Department of Wildlife Services and the Virginia State Police.
Arrested was Thomas M. Lehrmann of Lynchburg. He was taken before a magistrate and was not able to post bond.
He was charged with two counts of use of a communication device to facilitate certain offenses against minors.
The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to keeping the youth of the Alleghany Highlands safe.
