COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Highlands Arts Council invites all to a serene evening filled with the timeless music of James Taylor.
America’s No. 1 James Taylor tribute artist, Bill Griese, will visit from Nashville with his acclaimed show, “Sweet Baby James,” on Friday evening, May 5, at the Farm at Glen Haven’s Amphitheatre, 4301 Longdale Furnace Road in the Sharon area of Alleghany County.
Glen Haven’s amphitheater is a picturesque outdoor setting on the banks of the Cowpasture River with a covered stage, open field parking and lawn seating. All attendees should bring their own lawn chairs. Gates open at 5 p.m. There will be food vendors and a cash bar on site. The music begins at 7 p.m.
Not your typical tribute band fare, singer/songwriter Griese brings to the audience the songs and stories of Taylor in a refreshingly authentic way, using only his spot-on vocals and skillful acoustic guitar. It’s a natural and respectful homage to an American original.
Unwind in the fresh air and enjoy all the James Taylor favorites like “Fire & Rain,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Shower the People,” “How Sweet It Is,” “Steamroller” and more, plus hidden gems for a genuinely Taylor-made show honoring one of the greatest troubadours.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and can be purchased in advance on the Arts Council’s website. https://arts4allalleghanyhighlands.com/event/sweet-baby-james-w-bill-griese/#tribe-tickets. There will also be tickets available at the gate.
Supplemental funding for this and other Arts Council programming is provided by The Alleghany Foundation, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts and corporate and private donors. Call the Arts Council at 540-962-2787 for more information.
