Cougars win second straight

NEW CASTLE, Va. (VR) – After a 1-7 record to start their season, the Covington Cougars (3-7) have now won two in a row, following a 5-1 victory on road against the Craig County Rockets. 

Jesus Reyes scored his seventh and eighth goals on the season to help pace the Cougars on offense. Meanwhile, Sam Ross, Elvis Ramirez, and Trinity Scott each had a goal.

Defensively, Dylan Pommert was a nightmare against the Rockets, as he recorded a game-high 19 steals, while E. Reyes had six. Goalkeeper Nicholas Lugar had two saves.

Bryce Drake had the Rockets lone goal, while Austin Nicholson recorded 17 saves.

The Cougars are off until next Monday, May 1, when they travel to Hot Springs to meet up with the Bath County Chargers for their final regular season meeting ever.
